Culture and Public Library Use

Consent

This project aims to explore the ways international students use resources provided in public libraries during their stay in the United Kingdom. Specifically, the project is focused on gaining more information about the cultural factors that may influence public library use by international students.

Through an online questionnaire that should take no more than 20 minutes, participants will be asked questions pertaining to their use of the public library and cultural background.

The results of the questionnaires will be analysed to determine correlations between cultural background and public library use. Findings will be used to develop questions for follow-up interviews. Findings will also be used to inform further research and will be published in suitable conference proceedings.

All data collected will be stored in a secure manner and deleted when no longer required, in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and Edinburgh Napier University’s procedures, with all data anonymised and pseudonyms used, where applicable, to prevent participant identification.

Participation is always voluntary, and you are free to request amendment or withdraw consent at any time without consequence.

This information sheet is your copy should you wish to retain it.
